The latest football kits for 2026/27: Bayern, Dortmund, PSG and Ajax

The first major shirt releases for the 2026/27 season are in, and there are immediately a few designs that stand out. Some clubs stick close to their familiar look, while other shirts add a bit more detail or a new idea.

The first four releases we're covering are those of FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, and AFC Ajax.

What stands out?

Bayern Munich home 2026/27

Bayern Munich presented their new home kit early and wore it immediately in competition, including in the Champions League semi-final against PSG.

Adidas stays close to the traditional Bayern look: red as the base, white accents, and subtle lines in the design that give the shirt more depth. We also see small gold details in the collar and sleeve ends. It's the first time Bayern has incorporated gold details into the shirt since 2012/13. It could be a subtle nod to the season when they won the treble.

Borussia Dortmund home 2026/27

For Borussia Dortmund's new home kit, there's clearly more behind the design than just yellow and black.

PUMA and Dortmund drew inspiration from the city itself for this shirt. The striking pattern in the fabric refers to two well-known Dortmund landmarks: the former Minister Stein coal mine and the Dortmunder U.

This choice is no coincidence. The Minister Stein mine closed its doors exactly forty years ago in 2027, while the Dortmunder U celebrates its hundredth anniversary this year. Two places that symbolize how Dortmund has developed and reinvented itself over the years.

This is reflected in the shirt. The classic BVB yellow base features a subtle pattern that refers to the shapes of the mine, steel constructions, and the city's skyline.

We also see Vodafone as a sponsor for the first time.

Nice detail: the players wore the shirt for the first time immediately during the home match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

PSG home 2026/27

The new Paris Saint-Germain home kit feels like a clear nod to PSG shirts from the 90s.

Nike opts for a lighter shade of blue, red, and white in the familiar vertical stripe that immediately brings to mind older PSG shirts from a period when they played in a lighter shade of blue, instead of the darker blue we see now.

Especially the color balance and the way the central stripe is incorporated into the design give the shirt a more retro feel than many recent PSG shirts.

While PSG has sometimes experimented with more modern patterns and variations on the classic design in recent years, this shirt feels like it goes back to the 90s, but with a modern twist.

For those who love classic PSG shirts, this is probably one of the better releases in recent years.

Ajax Third 2026/27

Of these four, AFC Ajax's third kit is perhaps the most striking release.

Adidas works with multiple shades of light blue, combined with dark blue details. The Amsterdam crosses are incorporated into the neck.

The shirt is inspired by the many light blue shirts Ajax has worn.
